This leading quality celeriac produces large, firm roots with white flesh that remains white after blanching. Ideal for stews or soups, but also invaluable diced or grated raw as a tasty addition to winter salads. High tolerance to Celery Virus. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner.
Growing Information
Grow on well cultivated soil which retains moisture in dry periods. Sow March-April under glass at a temperature of 10-15°C (50-60°F) for use in late autumn and winter (30 weeks maturity). Harvest at 'tennis ball' size.
Sowing Information
Sow in a propagator on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at minimum 18°C (65°F) using a good quality compost. Cover the seeds with 3mm (1/8") sieved compost (Germination 12-18 days). Transplant seedlings singly into 50mm (2") pots or into trays, grow on and finally plant out 20-30 (9-12") apart, in rows 38cm (15") apart when all frost risk has passed. Do not grow Celeriac in trenches.
Water regularly during periods of dry weather. Once the bulb starts to develop remove lower leaves to encourage further growth.
