Thin-shelled pointed, narrow pods in pairs. Heavy yielding, and of fine flavour, it is also resistant to mildew and suitable for June-July sowing. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. Height 45cm (18"). Early Variety.

Heritage Seed Variety, 1938 packet details - An early dwarf-cropping Pea with dark green pods. A big cropper. Height about 1 frac12; feet.

Growing Information

W = Wrinkled. Can be sown in succession from March to June. Allow 60-120cm (2-4') between rows according to the height of the variety. General sowing and cultural instructions are given on all our packets. Most varieties freeze well, but some are especially suitable. (12-14 weeks maturity.)

Sowing Information

Sow thinly direct into soil prepared by digging and raking at a depth of 50mm (2") in flat drills 15cm (6") wide in two rows with seed approx. 5cm (2") Apart. Germination can take up to 10 days. Allow 90cm (36") between further rows. Support plants with twiggy sticks or pea netting. Grows best in sunny position in well cultivated soil containing plenty of well-rotted manure or compost. Plants are heavy cropping if picked regularly. Pick small before peas bulge through the pods. Water well during dry weather to aid flower setting and pea formation.
